Lisa very kindly delivered 2 sunflowers on Tuesday evening. One for myself and one for my partner Paul. Since he was not home to take his pick, naturally I bagged the best one!
My sunflower is standing 50cm-ish tall from the base of stalk to the tip. Its the one on the right in the photo.
I am quite excited about this adventure of growing some giants. I have kept them safe on top of the picnic bench incase the neighbours dogs vandalise in some way, probably by pee-ing on them!!
I shall keep you all posted on how I get on.
Yay!! Welcome to the blog Anne :)
ReplyDeleteI hope that Paul will take his sunflower growing very seriously ;)
I should hope they both take thier sunflower growing seriously Miss Lisa, it is a serious buisness after all!!
ReplyDeleteI am very jealous Anne & Paul as you have at least a 40cm start on me already... i have been talking to mine today and have informed them of the sunflower hotspot developing in the Lothians....
I think you are bluffing Miss Helen - last time I saw your sunflowers they were so very tall that they made mine look like wee fatties!!
ReplyDeleteHow is Ginger getting on with his sunflower? You'll have to try to get a photo :)
...and while you're there getting the photo, see if you can get them to do the old "American Gothic" pose like you always wanted!
ReplyDeleteNow don't you go getting me in trouble... that was Lisa's idea that was!! Ginger and Mrs J may yet become bloggers, and i have seen thier sunflowers today in fact, Ginger has a special 'chicken wire and black plastic technique' that he's invented, so we best all be on our guard....
ReplyDeleteHey! I don't think I'm entirely to blame for American Gothic(!) though it would be genius ;)
ReplyDeleteI am intrigued by Ginger's Chicken Wire & Black Plastic Sunflower Accelerator (Patent Pending)!! But will Ginger be willing to blog about it and share his secrets?!
